With over 100 youth athletes in over 14 different sports currently in the mix, the Mike Bentley Youth Academy ‘Future Champion Programme’ is thriving as are the athletes engaged in the programme. We allow these future champions the chance to avoid being underdeveloped for the demands of their sport. Each athlete is taken through a long-term athlete development programme using appropriate training principals and methods, ensuring that progress is monitored and that the athletes themselves are being educated in the ‘why’ of the programme.
The academy works very closely with 11-18yr olds, on an individual needs basis and in a team setting, and the focus largely sits with improving and developing each individual athlete to reach their potential, far to often our youth athletes are over trained on the sports fields which leads to the breakdown and eventual injury to that athlete, the Academy aims to bridge this gap and allow the athlete to cope with the demands that their sports coaches put on them through a tried and tested method of strength and conditioning, keeping your future champion playing sport and not supporting from the stands. As our future champion develops from a child to a teenager to an adult we are there to support and develop their physical qualities. The academy shifts the mentality to a performance-based program, looking to enhance the athlete’s physical qualities.
